After BMW ceased production of the Z8 in 2002, Alpina, the renowned BMW tuner and manufacturer, stepped in to reimagine the car. The result was the Alpina Roadster V8, a model that shifted the Z8’s identity from a sharp sports car to a refined grand tourer. To achieve this, Alpina softened the suspension for a smoother ride and replaced the manual gearbox with a five-speed automatic transmission. The original S62 engine was swapped for a 4.8-liter M62 V8, tuned by Alpina. While power was reduced to 375 hp, torque increased slightly to 520 Nm, available at lower revs, making the Roadster ideal for relaxed cruising and spirited canyon drives.
