Ferrari 360 Spider

The 360 was the first V8 Ferrari designed from the outset with a Spider in mind. Unlike the 348 and the F355, there was never a targa version: the Spider was the only open 360. The fabric roof is fully automatic, where the F355 Spider still had a semi-automatic system, and disappears into its own well between the cabin and the engine. Two fairings behind the seats conceal the roll hoops and recall classic Ferrari sports racers. The 3.6 litre V8 with five valves per cylinder produces 400 ps at 8,500 rpm, paired with the F1 transmission and paddle shifters. To compensate for the missing roof, the Spider received additional bracing in the sills, floorpan, windscreen frame and rear bulkhead, adding only around 60 kg over the Modena.

Fun fact: the 360's chassis was the first full aluminium chassis in a Ferrari road car, developed together with Alcoa. It is 40 percent stiffer than the F355's and 28 percent lighter, despite the car growing ten percent in overall dimensions.
