The SL65 AMG Black Series replaced the entire folding roof of the standard SL65 with a fixed carbon roof, along with most of the body panels. That saves 250 kg. The 6.0 litre twin-turbo V12 produces 670 ps at 5,400 rpm. Torque is electronically capped at 1,000 Nm, because without that limit the engine would push towards 1,220 Nm and destroy the five-speed automatic. Track width is 115 mm wider at the front and 103 mm wider at the rear than the standard SL65, with completely revised suspension replacing the air-based hardware with classic coilovers. At its introduction this was the most powerful production model AMG had ever built.

Fun fact: the rear spoiler automatically extends 12 cm at high speed for added stability. At normal speeds it remains fully hidden within the bodywork.
