Ferrari 296 GTB
The 296 GTB proves that downsizing does not mean a loss of emotion. The 2.9 litre V6 turbo, together with the electric motor, delivers 830 hp exclusively to the rear wheels. Due to the 120 degree block angle the engine sounds surprisingly shrill and aggressive at high revs. Thanks to the shorter wheelbase the car feels much more nimble and playful than its predecessor, the F8 Tributo. The exterior refers directly to the classic 250 LM with its air intakes and vertical rear window. Inside the analogue rev counter has been definitively replaced by a digital display.
Nice detail: during the development phase the engineers in Maranello nicknamed this engine the 'piccolo V12' due to the specific firing order that mimics the sound of a twelve cylinder
